Leading a Virtual FPU class does take some time and effort, however, after you get the initial communication going, it's relatively easy to coordinate each week's lesson!
Preparing to Lead your Class
- Once your class is created, you can log into financialpeace.com/app/coordinator, and download the Complete Coordinator Guide (click here) to prepare. The Complete Coordinator Guide is located in the In-Person section of the Resources tab under Downloads. The coordinator will guide you step-by-step through each week’s lesson.
- You can also find all 9 FPU videos in the Resources tab. You will want to watch the weekly lesson at least once to familiarize yourself with the concepts presented each week.
- Take some time to watch the Training library as soon as you can. The training videos will be very helpful as you prepare to lead your class! Check it out here.
- When you have a new class member, we will send you an email notification. Please be sure to check your Members tab in the dashboard to see the updated roster prior to your class starting. You will also want to Message your participants by clicking on Message on your active class page and choosing the One Day Before First Class template. Be sure to include your virtual meeting link in your email each week.
- Start your Zoom meeting at least 15 minutes before your start time to make sure the link is working properly and then lead your class through the activity, discussion questions, and action steps. (If you need help in creating your Zoom link, check out this article.)
- IMPORTANT UPDATE: Please check out this article about how the group snapshot collection process has changed. How to Navigate Check-Ins and Financial Snapshots as a Coordinator
Here are some things to keep in mind to help ensure you have a good class experience:
- Get everyone involved! Make sure everyone in the class has a chance to join in with the discussion and feels like a part of the group.
- Keep the communication going! Be sure to email everyone before and after each week’s lesson. Be sure to include your group meeting link and the time zone to avoid confusion.
- Don’t get discouraged if some class members drop out! Virtual classes often see a 25-30% drop out rate after week 2. Just keep that in mind and focus on the people who show up and stay committed to the group.
- Stay true to the FPU principles and don’t contradict what is taught in the FPU videos! If you have any questions or concerns about the video content, please contact our team right away.
- Keep the discussion positive and uplifting! We want everyone to leave each session feeling hopeful and inspired.
